Gratitude

thank·ful (adj.)

1. Aware and appreciative of a benefit; grateful.
2. Expressive of gratitude: a thankful smile.

The nights have been late, the mornings early.  Lattes have been necessary.  I am in the middle of a week-long fling with rolls of packing tape and bubble wrap.  Slowly, boxes are taking over our house

But I am pausing, reflecting, giving thanks...

...for the way morning sun crescendos upon our apple tree, just so.

...and, well, mornings in general.

...for the Gregory Brothers who make me LAUGH, 'cuz it really is good for the soul. (Check it 'cuz her daddy taught her good.)
...for holidays like Thanksgiving that bring our family together.
...and the friendship my kids have with their cousins.

...for the winter that will soon be upon us, tucking us in beside warm fires and hot cocoa and board games.

...for this little girl and all the ways her fire and imagination color our world with reds and hot pinks and purples.

...and this little boy who calms it all down with his greys and greens and blues.

...for an Alpha and Omega, who holds our hands from the womb to the grave.  He never changes.  And so today especially, I kneel my heart and hold up thankful hands for all the ways He provides.

Happy Thanksgiving, all.

Be aware and appreciative.  And if you are reading this and were alone today, I wish you could have joined us.  There's room at our table.
